I noticed when he opened the hood, he had a hood rod he used to keep it open. Is this normal on caribbean's because of the weight of the snouts on the hood?

The hood prop rod is normal on all Caribbeans except 1956 which have a (lighter) hood formed by a different process.

Leno's 55 paint scheme is reminiscent of that on the last 1956 Caribbean convertible, #276, which was MTM or Dover White/Naples Orange/Dover White. Here's the schemes and #s for the other 1956 Caribbean convertibles that weren't tri-color.
