On my tank, I couldn't get a solid seal on the tank fitting with the flared line fitting due to corrosion.
So, I ended up screwing in a hose barb fitting there with some Teflon tape. Which worked out nicely anyway as that hose was routed up to a rear filter and aux fuel pump I tucked up in the frame rail.

I see what Howard was talking about when I looked at my other tank and here's the sealant I'm using.
Thanks! Wes

I'm interested in how it is to weld the 2 halves of the tank back together....

Getting set to get some scrap 24 gauge steel and see what I can do. I've been working with 22 gauge and no problems so far. I'm looking at using Butt Welding Clamps. I'll let you know how it works out.
If you look at Ross's Blogpackardinfo.com/xoops/html/modules/newbb ... lat&order=ASC&type=&mode=0&start=20 It looks like he overlapped, but I'm going to try butt weld. Wes

Oh well what's a few holes on the top.... Gravity will hold the gasoline down.... LOL
I seen on one site where a guy repaired his tank using an epoxy on it to fill holes. John

I'll also say if you can back up the holes with a piece of copper helps to limit burn through. The copper seems to draw away some of the heat. I've even used a piece of copper pipe split down one side an flattened out as a "backer" and clamped it over a hole to be welded.
