I see lots of magnetic tapes with the GE unit so they may not have had anything else. If Nance had been looking at IBM, here is the latest cutting edge hard drive that went with their competitive offering of the time. That disc drive was a more compact unit that replaced the first IBM hard drive introduced in 56. That drive was a bit larger at over a ton and had multiple 24 inch wide discs all needed to store a whopping 5 megs..
