Front fenders are off to the media blaster tomorrow. I was quoted $60 a fender. To me thats pretty cheap to get back primer ready clean metal.

This is the same outfit that I used to media blast my rims.

Got the fenders prepped to go to the media blaster. All the spring clips, trim clips, rubber washers, terminal blocks, and anything else that can be removed was. I also removed the inner fender panel from the passenger side fender. Everything has come loose as the blaster wont disassemble anything, so if I want completely stripped, then it all has to come apart.

Also here are pictures of the different between the Senor Radio and the Standard Clipper radio.

Thats what I said when I was quoted the price. I even made sure to tell the guy that these were the complete inner and outer fenders as one big piece. For sure not the same as a fender off a Honda Civic! He did ask me is there was any body filler or undercoating on the fenders. I guess there is more labor involved if there is.

The is the same media blaster that Barry White uses and has been shown on the "Wrecks to Riches" show on Discovery/TLC. Luckily it's only about 5 miles from me.

Fenders dropped off at the blasters this morning. They will be ready tomorrow afternoon. I am also having them media blast the fender skirts as the same time. I figured since it was so cheap I might as well give them everything that wont fit in my small blast cabinet.

Fenders back from the Media Blaster. They use a garnet based blasting agent. It leave a great profile on the fender to accept primer. All and all it was much cheaper that I was quoted. The entire bill for media blasting both fenders, the engine access panel, and both fender skirts was $105 out the door.

Talk about a bargain! If i knew it was going to be that cheap I would have had it done years ago!

That was a screamin' deal Kev. They look great. I'd gladly pay twice that so I wouldn't have to deal with scraping, stripping and sanding.

You are well on you way to getting your project to a show!

PS: I also notice the Packardinfo bumpersticker on the back window of your parts hauler. EXCELLENT!!

Don,

Keegan had those stickers made awhile back and was kind enough to send me one. I believe Mal also has one of them on his '41 Couple also.

Must have been at least 2 years ago. They have held up very well in the hot sun out here in Calif.

Can someone point towards a material I can use to replace the rubber edging on the splash pans, access panels, etc? A website link would be great.

Tomorrow I have to make a run to the Paint Supply store to pick up some more mixing cups, and also some urethane black paint for the inner fenders. I also need to pick up another gallon of thinner to clean up the paint gun.

I'm hoping I can get all the primer and black paint completed this weekend and get those fenders rehung.

This is the two-part primer system I use. Pricey but good!
