I know the 6 is correct for 55-6 and I can't remember what was on the Pacific with AC I had or have any good photos, but believe it is also correct for the 54.

The parts list is interesting. It shows that '54 standard fan is unque, but the '54 A/C fan is the same part number as the 51-53 standard fan, and there is no A/C fan listed for '53. Also, there is a different fan pulley used on '54 A/C, maybe for the double belts? Or am I reading this all wrong?

This makes it sound like the A/C cars used a regular 4 blade fan??

I know there was a different fan on the 54 Pacific with AC I had -- just don't remember how many blades. As to the pulley it is two groove but don't believe AC belts pass over it. Belts still had to be removed to disable the AC compressor for winter so wouldn't have been used for the fan as well.

Without going and looking at a car or someone posting some decent photos, can't remember what the second fan groove was for. Fan/gen was one but I think the PS might have been routed over the other. I believe there are a couple of omissions or mis directions when chasing 53-4 AC components in the parts manual.

I guess finding a 53/54 with factory air to take pictures of would be the best case. I may have to put out some feelers.

I'll be the first to ask the question -- what is the extra motor and stuff on the firewall? It kind of looks like there is some linkage over to the vacuum motor and something sticking out the vacuum motors front so maybe wiper?? Interesting adaption if it is.

The '54 with factory air has a different water pump with a longer shaft and the hub may be pressed on. Not sure about the hub but it is different. This might be to extend the fan closer to the rad?

I believe the extension on the pump pulley is to give some clearance to the compressor belts and components more than to get fan closer to the radiator.

The belts are in a diagonal path to the lower crank drive pulley. The taper and width of the normal pump pulley may not have given enough clearance. There is also a large dual pulley idler assy located below the compressor and extending slightly in front of the engine which controls tension on the belts. That might have also caused clearance issues with the fan.
