Water could also be entering the car from under the front window seals. Particularly if the same clown was working the day your car went down the line. Someone at the factory had put a chisel hole in my car and it had to have leaked its whole life.(Passenger floor rusted.) Only found it when the windshield was removed for restoration. Brian

Thanks guys I noticed a faint watermark on the rear wheel inner fender so it might be the trim on the side. I'll try the water trick and see what happens. We did have a downpour the other day and the water in the car was only a small puddle so this is a slow leak that accumulates over time.

So far so good. Got the roof cleaned with the POR cleaner/degreaser and followed by the POR metal prep. All the surface rust turned a gray ashy look.

Used plastic cups to pour the POR-15 into as they recommend you use a separate container. At first, the paint went everywhere as I was over filling the paint brush and it would drip like crazy. Luckily I was wearing a Tyvek suit, spray paint sock, respirator and goggles! At the end of the first coat, I saw the paint had eaten through the cup! Work fast before your container springs a leak!

Once I got the hang of it, the thin paint went on quickly. Two coats seems to have done the job. Second coat was much faster than the first. The floor boards will be easier since I know what to expect. I ordered semi gloss black for the floors which should arrive tomorrow.

The POR will do an excellent job of keeping the underside and top of the floor preserved. The inside of the roof looked very nice, in fact I've only once seen a rusty inside on my limo which had a cloth top that retained water. Painting the inside will give your arms good exercise but not much else.

Now for a really nice job, check out Noico 80 mil sound deadener. I have bought a ton of it off Amazon and have been very pleased with it for a fraction of the cost of better known brands. It will keep the car cooler, and when you rap on the roof with your knuckles it will sound like it was carved from a huge block of rock maple.

Thanks Ross, I will pick some up before I put in a headliner. It will be a while before I get there.

Got the floor and trunk painted in POR-15 semi-gloss black. It is actually a lot shinier than I expected. No issues but I did miss a few spots on the second coat so they are duller than the rest. Not a big deal. I can feel how strong the paint is already. Put the seats back in place and I hope to drive it again soon.

How much POR 15 did it take to coat the floor? Did you do the underside yet or just the top?

I used 1 quart to do the top of the floor and trunk. It was barely enough. I'll be buying more for underneath when I feel like doing this again.

Right now I would just be doing the floor in the car, I have work to do to the trunk floor before painting it.
