Attached are pictures of a Packard differential for identification. It is stamped with part #140436 and has 61 teeth in the ring gear and 12 in the pinion gear. The ring gear is approximately 12-1/8" in diameter and the housing is about 13" in diameter. Can't find it in my parts book.

5.08's....yikes! top speed probably like 40mph!

If you look in the 33-36 parts book there is one listing for 5.08's. I can delve into older books in my library...but the whole differential I will not swear to..not my era.

What is the outside diameter of the tires used with that gearset? Large diameter tires will offset the effects of the slow gearing.
I used to drive a 1950 Ford F-3 with a 5.86 axle. It would fly down the interstate at 80+ with no problem. It had 17" rims and I ran old school 7.50 X 17 mud cleat tires that stood 33" tall.
