Oh wow! “the Little Giants” was a great film and very informative for this novice wrench. Had no idea what a Hotchkiss was! Wonderful to see them break down why the L-head and straight 8 is by far a superior balanced engine to the V8’s, but I’m sure Packard’s V8 were better than the others.

I also didn’t realize that the valves in the 327 are angled slightly to achieve a more optimal combustion area, I presume. I didn’t pay attention to every detail, I mean I had to scrap my jaw off floor at some point ya know. Crazy that I’ve had this engine for almost a decade and I didn’t know why it was so good!

A favorite part might’ve been the explanation of the inferior “PING” of the in-valve heads 🤣🤣🤣

Quote:

I just went through that on my 2005 S4. Just finished replacing the entire front and rear suspension, including all arms on the front. Except I didn't have the fancy jig so I had to use a jack to compress to ride height. And on the S4 a torque wrench doesn't fit anywhere.

Fun times.

That's been my point.

Math gets you in the ballpark. Or near.

The problem with the government. You have book engineers..

Never built. Anything.. but. They tell you this or that won't work.

They come up with this b.s. somg system.
