Hi Michael
Yes, having acces to Packardinfo is the best resource you can get!

I must correct myself, the kit was already installed when I got the car. It does seem to work allright however. I will look for the old parts and box to see if it matches yours. From the foto it looks allright.

I still think you should try to get the whole lock assembly second hand from the US. That is what I did. There are lots of parts on the assembly you might keep for spares for later as these are hard wearing parts.
You have to remove the whole assembly anyway to replace the star wheel.

Hi Barrie and thanks for reply - much appreciated.

Nice to know one of these kits is fitted to your car - so they DO work.

Please let me know if it is a Roto-Lokit kit (if you can find the box that is !! - know I can't ever find anything despite everyone saying how tidy I am.)

Photo taken last week at my Restorer's Shop - indoors so colours seem a lot brighter than they are in reality.

Reference wear and tear : got to remember first owner (Tobacco Famer in Rhodesia) scrapped this car back in 1968 when it was just 20 years old - he obviously thought that he had worn it out, so I think doors not shutting properly 40 or so more years later can be forgiven !!

Michael

Hi

Still no one has come forward and admitted to using one of these kits -

Meanwhile I have used mine and it's in position having replaced the old one - WHOOPEE working fine. Bit scary hacking away at the old one but a very easy job in reality.

Best regards to all who have helped - Michael

P.S JUST REALISED MY 1948 22ND SERIES NEEDS A LEFT HAND SIDE DOOR HANDLE - IF ANYONE CAN HELP PLEASE POST A REPLY HERE OR SEND ME A P.M
