As promised I got to Walmart today and got the pictures. The engine actually looked better in real life than in pictures, however the dash and steering wheel did look great. Anyway enjoy and tell me what you think.I just hope HE PUTS THAT DARNED THING INSIDE!!!!!!

You wouldnt happen to have his phone number? By the way the car was inside SOMEWHERE until the executor of the estate had it towed to the garage, so it hasnt been outside long. According to the PA inspection sticker the last year the car was on the road was 1966. But if anyone can tell me something about this car im dying to know.....

The historic plate indicates the registration continued after 1966. However, the car has experienced considerable humidity as evidenced by the plating and motor hardware. I'll bet it was pretty darn nice before it went into a barn.

Realistically, it will sell for the chassis.

For somebody who wants to restore it the value is negative, meaning it requires more money than it is worth.

I just don't see more than $10 grand. If somebody needs the fuel pump they may pay more and try to sell the rest to recover. But even if the motor sounds good on start up that doesn't mean it can be driven alot. So you have to factor in a motor job. If you hire a contractor with a crane you can do that yourself, but it is a prodigious task.
In the old days hobbyists avoided the V-12 because it is heavy equipment requiring a shop.

When the car was new it cost about twice the price of the typical American home. That makes it a very expensive proposition.

I realize I just made enemies of every Packard dealer in the country but what will happen to this car is it will be taken apart and stay apart like so many others. Then it will not be worth more than $10 grand.

The asking price for a similar car (although disassembled), in similar condition, was recently sold off of a Tennessee/Georgia Craigslist for around $5,500. As this car, the price reflected the value of the unknown engine and the chassis. Everything else was just fodder to throw onto eBay. Restorable? Yes. Worthy? Yes. Economically feasible? No. But if you really like the car and want to do the work yourself, it appears to be a good solid car with which to start.

Maybe West, I was a little too generous. Although disassembled cars always sell for less, depending on how far apart.

Dick Dewey did the motor in his own V-12's, but they were 1932's and a lot easier. If the bore is okay they can be overhauled in the car. If the silencers are bad that's another big chunk if Dale has any left.

Next are those aluminum heads. You need to have a tool made to cut away the corrosion around the studs. That's a big job for each head. I've done it.

Those fuel pumps are nearly impossible to find without a car attached. Cars have been restored on the assumption that a pump will be found and then sat around waiting. Although an electric can always be used instead. Charlie Clancy had a fake pump on his Caddy 12. You could have one carved out of wood or plastic by an artist.

If the motor runs decent the car could be dolled up, blankets thrown over the seats and used for occasional local meets. Restoration is a labor of love in this case.

Roughly how much do you think it would cost to restore it and create a semi-custom body that kept the existing doors, fenders and hood? $200K? If the overall design were spectacular, even if still a closed car, might make the effort economically viable.
