I figure it helps to sing the praises of any shop or service
catering to our cars, to foster, encourage a "support group."
If your Packard -- or any collector piece you care about --
needs body, paint work, and you're in the greater San Franciso/Oakland Bay Area, NorCal, Central Cal, contact
Dick Falk, Valley Restoration, 280 Buchanan Field Road, #3,
Concord, 94520-5571 1 (925) 689-1934

Dick's been building hot rods, customs, painting vintage
and classics since the '50s. Tho' i'm not a custom car guy,
i always liked some of the 1949-50 Mercury club coupes in a solid dark color so long as they were free of flames, scallops, pinstripe and other nervousness.

Dick's '49, when he finally finishes it, since he's so
busy on everyone else's car, will easily be the equal of the Hirohito Merc and others you might've heard about. He even made his own grill, bumpers. An artist, pure and simple.

As several Rabble Beach veterans have told me, the cars
at the Oakland Roadster Show oft have higher craftsmanship.
Dick's built, painted many of those award winners over the years. Dick's got the eye and back in the early '50s owned
a '42 junior Clipper 8 which he liked.

Dick painted a '37 Railton i know well, a '36 Cord Westchester that's a jewel but to my friend's credit he continues to drive the wheels off it. Another friend took
his '35 DeSoto Airflow.

I know a mere online photograph doesn't tell you a lot,
but you can see what he did for my car on the 1947 page of
the Owner Registry here.

Tell Dick a black '47 Packard Super Clipper in Walnut
Creek sent you.
