In this pic what is the hook like thing around the driver's side frame rail? It appears to be making the spring on that side compress more than the other side.

The hook like object, isn't anything original by Packard . I don't know what it's intended purpose was. Was it a towing "J" hook that got lodged there? I have owned my 115c since 1954 and it never had anything like that on it and many that I got parts from,never had anything like that as well.
