Its funny Ive just experienced the same problem with my 1955 400-the T/L seems top adjust way more than ive been accustomed to. Now true, I need a set of new tires (I will be ordering them in July) the ones on the car are approx 10 years old so maybe that has something to do with it?

For my two cents worth, and a regular driver of a '56 Patrician on Australian roads (also attended the Mildura run), I can't say I've ever noticed the leveller operating out on the road. The only time it's really noticeable is when refuelling or when loading/unloading passengers and/or the boot (trunk). Seems like you've got a gremlin in the system Matt. Cheers, John

I would use Ross's suggestion first. Replace the upper control arm bushings. The bushings should be tightened with the car level and on the ground.

I did that on a 56 and the leveler worked perfectly.

Also, you should make sure the brake switch cutout is working. That turns off the leveler when your foot is on the brake. Dwight Heinmuller has a kit for that problem.
