Someone please go through for me the different types of 15" steel wheels 1948-50 Packards used. I have some that are 6" wide, and some that are 5 1/2" wide. I assume the 6" wide was used on the Custom series, but was this wider wheel used on the 327 engined Super Eight Packard's too?

Yes, the 6" wheel was for the Custom 8, and it was not used on the Super Eight with the exception of the extended long wheelbase models. Custom 8 used 8.00x15 tires, the Super Eight used 7.60x15 (8.20x15 on the extended wheelbase models).

The 48-54 parts list has all the info you want and it's on line here, so browse to your heart's content for the full story on wheels -see Group 19.

I had bought a set of trim rings for a 15 inch wheel car. The problem is that the ones I bought where a greater diameter than the ones that originally came on the car so therefore I could not use them. Does anybody know what these greater diameter trim rings are for? They looked almost identical to the ones I had except they were slightly bigger in diameter.
