Nice pictures, and two really interesting cars.

The tan "120" is a bit uncommon as a "junior" but with one-off coachwork by LeBaron, it was formerly owned by actor and Packard enthusiast Edward Hermann, pix of it from about 10 years ago attached. The Brewster-bodied Packard 12 (former Barbara Hutton car) is well known - here's a picture of it from when I first got into the hobby in the very early 1960s and another from the PAC Gettysburg National Meet.

Thanks for liking my pictures Owen. Is the picture you showed me the same car?

I had a good time, I was looking for 55/56 Packard but really liked the big bulky size of the Packard of the 30's. Nothing like those small fords built for 5'5 Henry Ford. Frankly I got tired of seeing so many fords..

Do you mean the Brewster-bodied ex-Hutton car? Yes, the same car. I forget the full story but as I recall the body was from an older Rolls Royce and Hutton had it mounted on a new Packard Twelve chassis. Not all that uncommon, there's a '37 Packard Twelve around which carries a body from a much earlier Pierce Arrow - another case of an owner wanting to keep the coachwork but have it on a newer chassis - photo from many years ago when it was at the Rockefeller Petit Jean museum. And again much earlier in it's career, I believe the occasion was the inauguration of President Eisenhower. Original owner was a Mrs. Ruth Gordon.

Wow that is so cool regarding the former President, I had to look up Ruth Gordon but now know she was Actress.

I always learn something on this site.

Today I met a man who was new to Parkard with a 52. I told him about this site. Hope he joins.

The 35 12 Hutton car still had a luggage rack on top of the roof in the 60's! Also the black tires are starting to grow on me, it looks great on that car.

Yeah, I agree about the blackwall tires. If my '34 were any color other than black I would have put blackwalls on it.

Forgive me for digressing, but as an addendum to the E. F. Hutton & Marjorie Merriweather Post story on the '35 Packard Twelve, Post later commissioned Derham to make a one-off for her on a 1948 Chrysler Imperial chassis, here's a couple of the original Derham photos of it, and one when a friend of mine here in New Jersey owned it for a couple of years (since sold). With the car came all the original correspondence between Post and Derham, just volumes of it. Poor Derham must have hated just opening the mail. The details make interesting reading and give insight into the ultra-wealthy, Post advising on an unbelieveable array of details, the exact angle of incline of the seat back, the depth of the cushion, how far her neck should be from the rear window, and more and more. And her request that Derham provide enough extra upholstery material so that she could have her furs relined to match the car's interior!

And BDC, notice again the roof luggage rack! And note the blackout exterior trim which was also carried over to the chauffeur's compartment, particularly the dashboard. Not a pretty car by any stretch, but impressive indeed.
