I'm sure he means "bourdon" tube type gauges, nor Borden. These are the classic mechanical gauges for measuring pressure like automotive engine oil pressure and use a semicircular or coiled tube. As an increase in pressure tries to straighten the tube, that motion is converted into rotational motion to move the gauge needle, very simple and clever!
