The fly wheel teeth are half way ground off from visually inspecting with fly wheel with cover removed . Mass amounts of oil are present in and around flywheel and cover..

The teeth on the flywheel are often damaged from jumping a car with 12v. The gear is a press fit into the flywheel, and replacements are readily available from the major vendors. The old one knocks off easily, and the new one pops right on if you hear it up in the oven first.
