All,

Can anyone tell me the correct color for the handle end? I've already colored the oil dip stick with ivory, but don't have a reference for this car's transmission dip stick's correct color? Help appreciated.

Thanks

i think they were painted same time as the engine and trans. as an assembly. the 320/twin that came out of the flyingdragon was original. and all three parts, engine, trans, and the dipstick tube and handel were all 55 320 red. so i think it was same as engine and trans color for your car. i have also had several parts cars that showed the same thing

Well I have remnants of white paint on 2 of my dipsticks, and the other is natural. I'd prefer to have it black myself, as it will blend in with the rocker cover and not look so filthy from handling it.

I believe both dipsticks are engine/tranny color. 55 Senior is Ivory and 56 senior is bronze. The various junior colors should follow the same pattern. I respectfully suggest that Dave's NOS dipstick is plain steel because they could not know into which engine/tranny combo it would be installed and so they didn't paint it any color leaving that up to the installer.
