Using age, once again as my excuse, I put my battery in as negative ground and positive to starter. Now, I have corrected THAT mistake and need to obtain the correct polarity. I understand that I am to quickly touch a jumper wire to the field. (1) Is the field the smaller stud on the top of the generator? (2) Do I get my power from the positive ground or negative connected to the starter? Thanks

Do NOT connect the field or at the generator. At the regulator use a decent size jumper wire for a quick maybe a second or so connection between BAT and ARM. There will probably be a small spark when the connection is made.
