I didn't have a source for woodgraining but did see some pictures of work being done by Lyman Woodgraining in CA and really liked what I saw. After talking to them I shipped my dash, window frames, ashtray .... thirteen pieces in all. I couldn't be more pleased. He correctly got both the straight and burned grain applied. The pieces are as good as anything I've seen. Unfortunately after checking the pieces I wrapped them up until I'm ready for them without taking any pictures. If you are interested to see them he posted a video of the dash and window surround on his website. Just go to videos and look for the July 2nd 2021 entry. While I was waiting for the pieces to come back I cleaned, painted and polished all the dash trim pieces. Check the condition of the plastic and ordered any replacements needed. Also cleaned and polished the center control panel.

Although the colors are correct I've never really been a fan of the color scheme. I decided to go with Puritan Grey over Silver French Grey. The funny thing is as I've been dismantling the car I discovered the car was originally Silver French Grey. More on the body later. I already knew who I was going to have do the interior. He had done work for me in the past and I was very pleased. I contacted as many vendors as possible to get samples of fabric. The problem was that none of the samples had a similar pattern or color scheme that would work. Although leather was an option I didn't think that would be a good look. What I decided to do was put a Rivera style interior in. It was available on senior cars and although I've never seen it on a Clipper I think it would look really nice. I ordered two different shades of grey. The material is here but probably won't be made until this coming summer.I'll post some pictures when it is, going to be awhile before it goes into the car. Next posts with pictures will be of the chasis.

This summer I decided to work on the chasis. Now that the body had been stripped we pulled it off the frame. Cleaned and painted the chasis

I was very happy to see the gas tank was in great shape when we looked inside. Only needed to clean and paint. I installed it using nos tank straps, a nos sending unit and fabricated a new pigtail. Put on a new set of shocks and a nos stabilizer. Had a set of nos exhaust hangers which were installed. Going to get some stainless steel fuel and brake lines on next. Although progress will slow down now -- not a heated garage. I usually bring in smaller pieces into the house to work on during the winter.

Found a gentleman close to my house who only does metal work that my brother in law recommended. Has a great machine shop. Problem is he's retired and goes south every winter. I had contacted him last year and was able to get in this fall. He made great progress but unfortunately is leaving to go south this week and will need to finish in the the spring. So the car will stay on the rotisserie over the winter. When we got the body off the frame we found who ever did the work in the eighties did a quick and dirty job. He covered up and held together the metal using tin sheets and rivets. The car has great sheet metal above the floor but the floor is Swiss cheese. The front fenders have the usual Clipper rust above the side grills. Fortunately I have two rust free fenders from a parts car. The first picture is when the body was separated from the chasis before we got it on the rotisserie.

The picture doesn't show the detail very well but it needs driver's floor pan from floor heater to toe board, left rear floor repair, both inside and out rocker panels, trunk floor, right side floor repair and front cab corners
