As far as non critical items like wheel bearings, I like to use marine grade waterproof grease, it seems thicker, tackier,(it works well on outdoor power equipment) and stays where you put it. I also like “00” grease, I used it on the shifter tubes on my 23 series oil hole once I got them freed up. Its thicker than 30w but still flows. Coated the battery terminal with the marine grease. The “00” grease was used in the gear cases of Snapper brand rear engine riding mowers from the mid 60’s till they stopped production in the late 90’s. You can find it at TRACTOR SUPPLY Co.
