Hi there,

I am disassembling a monroe power steering control valve from a 1956 Packard 400. The stud has 2 bushings on either side of the ball in the control valve. These are very flimsy and one is also broken but I cant find a replacement ( partnr 474210). Mine dont seem original so I am thinking of making new bushings but I need the exact measurements of the originals. Can someone provide those?

Thanks for the suggestions but Max M doesnt sell them and when I google the partnr only my post comes back.
Think I will measure the clearances and machine new bushings.

I don't know if Lares Corporation might have or would even sell individual components or only sell and rebuild complete assys but they do advertise in Hemming's. I believe they have rebuilt steering systems for a few Packard owners who post on the forum. Don't know if other mfgs used exactly the same unit as Packard but Monroe steering was also used on some Plymouth models and their vendors might be worth checking.

Don't remember where this page is from but here is a bit showing Mopar (Plymouth) part numbers. Again, do not know if it exactly the same unit as I believe the typical Packard was heavier and might have had a larger unit than Plymouth.

I just bought the control valve from max.

Yeah. Those brass bushings are thin.

Only thing I can think of us thin wall tubing.
It's basically the same size that you have.

Somewhere I have used ones.
From mine. And spares ..

I ended up buying the whole cylinder from max.
Think he said it NOS

Not cheap.

Is it possible for you to send a picture with sizes ( OD of the bushings and lenght). Should fit a 5/8 inch stud.
Would appreciate it. Thanks!
