I have used Teflon tape as a mold release. In my case I wrapped the tape around bolt threads (one wrap), filled damaged threads in bolt hole with JB Weld, screwed in the wrapped bolt, and after the weld had set unscrewed the bolt. It works, but not for anything that has a lot of stress. Might work for the jet plug threaded holes in the carburetor bowl.

I pulled the card (again, fortunately it is really easy)this weekend. First, I re-adjusted the float a bit as I knew it was a little low, and then I used teflon tape around the screws as suggested earlier.

The manifold is now bone dry after cooling off and I can no longer feel moisture at the jet plugs under the bowl. So, all looks good for now.

Thanks to all for your advice. I am glad I did not need to go further with this fix.
