I don't have the kind of money that Jack Nordstrom is asking for to do this conversion. As far as I know he is the only one doing it these days.

I have a flange that fits the v8 and a 700r4 so I am going to do it my self. (yes I know I am going to have to turn down a crank adapter bushing as well)

I figure I am smart enough to figure this all out but anyone that has any photos or measurements of this completed it would be greatly appreciated.

Keep them on the road,

Keep us posted on your progress.

U mention "a flange that fits the V8". Does it fit the 700R4 too????

Not sure how u plan to align trans with engine.

Mite want to get a BARE block with crank shaft caps. A BARE 700R4 case. Set block up VERTICLE on front face of block. Place BARE trans case on engine. Then come up with someking of alignment shaft to pass down thru both trans and crank main bearing bores of the engine block.

For everything you need (starter, precision adapter plate, bushing thing that goes between the 700r4 and the motor) it may well be worth it to get the $1000 pre-made kit. I don't know about you, but i value my time, and even if i had the machining experience and machines to do it, it would still take forever to fab something as nice and accurate as they already have.

Maybe they'll sell you just the plate? that's the hard to get right piece. Unless that's the flange you're talking about? Maybe they'll sell you just the center piece. Chevy starters, flywheels (unless it's special) etc etc come cheap elsewhere.

Altho it has been about 2 years since this subject came up at any length, I don't recall ever seeing any pics of the conversion posted anywhere. Maybe Nordstrom has a website????

I called and i thought for sure the whole kit was like 995, and no permanent mods needed:

I'm reading now that you're talking about a V8, not a straight 8, sorry.

I have bare a 352, 700r4, & flange cut to fit the bolt patern.(the flange is steel. I will have to get a aluminum one cut once all the diminetions are figured out.)
I found about 6 pics some from jacks web site and one from another guy that is no longer doing the conversion.

Ill be sure to post progress as its made ;)
