The sad part is that the American nanny-state has grown so intrusive that such a story seemed plausible to so many. In a nation that is seriously considering a program that would levy a tax based on miles driven (conveniently monitored by a government installed on-board transmitter) it's not surprising that these guys bought into this story.

Maybe next year SAAC should stick to something truly outlandish such as : "US Government Outlaws Lightbulbs." Oh wait...they already did that...
