Will a 50 Ultramatic bolt up to a 55 V8 engine?

Don't believe so. Looking at the bellhousings from 50-54 and 55-6 the holes look to be different so the engine side would be too. I think there is also a depth and possibly circumference difference.

Some 50 converters also had drain plugs in the front reached thru access holes in the flexplate. The V8 flexplates won't have those holes since the drain plugs were moved to the side in 51.
