This wouldn't happen to be a kick-down switch for an overdrive tranny, would it? I don't see any wires going to the transmission.

Where was it mounted. With only 2 wires, more likely the back up light switch that goes on steering column. OD switch would have 4 wires.

It was just dangling down around the power booster. Where on the column does the backup light switch attach?
