Sagging Door Handles on a 1940 120 Convertable

I konow this problem seems to exist on most 40-42 Packards. What is the best way to fix the handles so they dont droop? Are there replacement springs or handle assemblies out there? If so where?

Thanks

Rob Troxel

Yes. One of the springs needs replacing. The one that worked for me was this:

These springs are DL18. $15.00 which includes shipping. Send by paypal to whiterivertreasure@centurytel.net or USPS money order to Joe Perro 26421 163RD Ave E Orting, Wa. 98360

The world wide web! Three or four clicks and Rob's new springs jump into his mailbox. Some few years before the same result has cost a lot of time and sweat.

That's not the spring that I was referring to. In fact, I didn't even know that the one Gusha showed was there. The one I mentioned is in the mechanism itself.
This is what I was recommending (they are available in many sizes):

If I caused a misunderstanding I'm sorry. Just a second, I will look for a suitable picture.

West, do we have to distinguish between lockable and not lockable doors?
Still looking for a pic.

Yes, I think that you are on solid ground. The below shown picture clarifies the seat of the spring I am talking about.
