what is the sheet metal gauge i should be looking for when i do the body work on my 55? 18g?

According to my nifty superduper magical sheet metal gauge, it is 16ga -- at least at that measured point.

I think it varies depending on area or use. Checking the fender skirt, that is closer to 18ga. Any thing in that range should work. If you can't find local, try Online Metalshttp://www.onlinemetals.com/ I've bought a lot from them and many times cheaper than Lowes or Home Depot -- even with freight.

front fender...lower right..where the rust usually happens. that is my testing my skills in body work zone....

i may have to cut the piece out first and take it up with me to compare.

i was thinking either 18 or 16.

i wonder what the floor is....hmmmmm\

thanks for the link. anyone is going to be less then lowes, metal at hardware stores is $$$ for sure.
