Rear end proper lube

OK, somewhere in my reading I thought I saw something regarding rear axle lube spec GL-4 or -5. Apparently the newer spec is corrosive to "yellow metals" like bronze, brass. So my question is, any yellow metal parts like bushings or bearings I suppose in the rear end or steering box of 1952 cars?

The issue of incompatability was due to additives that have not been in use since the mid fifties IIRC. This is one of those urban garage legends that will not die. Just put some GL5 in there and keep driving.
