Hello all,
I have just acquired this beautiful 1937 Packard 1091CD One Twenty Deluxe 138" Wheelbase Seven Passenger Touring Sedan from my local bank that I am looking to sell. I'm new to the Packard community so if I have misstated the model please correct me. This car starts and runs however the brakes need work. It will stop but I have not driven it faster than a slow idle as they are weak. You can email me directly requesting a video of it starting and engine revving. These are pictures of when I acquired it and I will post more as we detail it. The asking price is $20,000 but I will entertain offers from anyone on this forum. Thanks for looking and considering.

I'm wanting to get opinions as to the value of this car. I will be posting it on various websites for sale and don't want to price it out of the ballpark. Thanks for your expertise and time.

I'm not knocking your car but when I take a quick look I see a tired paint job, crummy mess under the hood, wrong upholstery, missing gas cap I think you'll have a very hard time selling this at $20k.

Hello Carlos:

Sorry, but that awkward silence you've heard for the last week was due, in part, as to be polite, yet frank in responding to you.

BDC has now broken the ice and he is being kind in the assessment of your car - he forgot to mention that nearly every piece of glass needs to be replaced.

Maybe you need to review some of the other 120 sedans available for sale, such as this one:https://packardinfo.com/xoops/html/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?topic_id=20807&forum=16 Seller describes the vehicle as in #4 condition and was asking $14,000 for the car. IMHO, it is in better condition than your car.

Your car needs everything and once it is cleaned up (not restored) the owner will definitely be upside down. If that 1939 was offered at $14,000, then you should be thinking of an asking price much less than that.

Best of luck.

I think the best way to entice a buyer would be to make the effort to get the car running/driving. There is nothing complex or expensive about the brakes, or the mechanics of the car overall for that matter.
My standard recommendation to any buyer would be to drive the car for 20 minutes and or 20 miles, then stop and let it run for 10 more minutes to see what leaks or if it overheats. If it passes this test, then add up what it would cost to change/restore all the items that suit personal objectives and decide if its worth the time/money/trouble to buy the car.
