If any of you fellows out there have an ORIGINAL vacuum antenna on your 23rd series car, I need to know what it looks like. I mean the rod that the vacuum tubes attatch to. I also need to see the antenna itself. I need to replace mine. Thanks!

This is off a 47. Believe it to be original and same as 23rd.

New subject: Would you like a photo of the gear shift linkage on a manual transmission '55 for your Easamatic conversion project? I have the Clipper at home and am deep into engine compartment cleaning.

Am interested in all linkage in the area of firewall from steering column down but particularly lower end where it passes the booster area at frame and connects to pivots. PV8 provided a picture of the area the pivots mount but unfortunately, his car had no linkage.

The shape and approx distance the closest rod comes to frame would be very helpful as I moved the booster to the right and need to make sure I didn't move too far.

Am pretty sure I left enough room for the clutch but one of that area for confirmation would also be appreciated.

Say, Howard, where I can I get an antenna like that?

J.R., I wish I knew. It appears to have not been purchased nearly as often as the roof antenna.

This one was on my 47 Custom in the usual spot and saw one other on a 47 limo used with a back seat radio. That one had an interesting mount near the right front corner of trunk floor flat area extending out between glass and corner of lid. Radio/controls etc were in the right armrest and quarter area.

jrbuzz, look through the ads in Hemmings for vacuum antenna repairers. Several years ago I talked with one of them about fixing the antenna on my '39 Cad 60 Special. He would not do it as he only had parts for '40 and later ones. I love seeing these antennas work up and down - smooth and silent.
