Re: Anyone know a source for the chintzy original duct hose 1941-47 Clippers?

Had the same thought t'other day, Ernie. Only hitch is it won't bend enough without deforming. Look at the pictures HH56 posted.

Anyone out there with a 1941-47 Clipper having the same option Howard described?

Meanwhile, no, not spending $16/foot on something this originally cheap but effective.

Like some of you, have sunk buckets of lucre and time in this spoilt gothic grilled b__ch. But not on some trifle like this.

Afraid this is another case of wanting our original cowl vehicle i.d. plates inscribed by the selling dealer re-silkscreened. Why are people willing to buy reproductions on a fresh piece of tin when the original metal can be just as easily re-inked?

No, wait. Don't tell me. And please, no "you getcha a..." DIY projects.

It seems that we must have a hundred threads already with this exact same question so maybe a sticky thread is in order!(?)

Circling back to these mysterious loops, Gary's 115c does show any evidence of them. Does anyone else with a 36/37 with a rumble seat have them?

Who knows? Perhaps someone's early attempt as a seatbelt mount for the kids?

Can't think of what else there would have been used for.

Having worked in small and large printing presses, you could easily make the pads. (Otherwise, go to a FedEx Office and have them do a spiral one cut to size or a small local print shop might do it for you cheaply, esp. if you tell them what you want to do.)

All you need is padding glue, paper and cardboard cut to size needed and some weights. Brush the glue on excessively on the edge of a bench and let drip off. You can add more as desired but the excess will mostly drip off. Typically when I did this I would do a stack, so think 50 pages+cardboard+50 pages+cardboard x 10. Then after a few hours, or wait a day if desired, lift the cardboard of the top pad and slice slowly with a butter knife (no need to get a padding knife, just something barely sharp. It should slice easily through but lightly lifting or pulling up on the "pad" while help. If you damage the first page below, just rip it off and it's clean.

This stuff would work, it looks like. Sold per foot. Neoprene-covered fabric hose. Expensive, like $16/foot.

Order the missing trunk rack trim strips from Max Merrit. They currently reproduce the straight strips. Not cheap, but at least they are available.
