Re: 1937 roof

You know, as long as we're on the subject of bodies...why did it take so long for manufacturers to use "full-width" bodies?

As lovely as separate fenders/running boards look, I wonder why making passenger compartments wider never occurred to manufacturers/stylists until much later.

I also wonder why wood-bodied station wagons persisted for so long as well, but that's a separate thread...

Does this station wagon still exist?

I found this link on today's Hemmings blog.

I quite like this photo! It looks to me like the lovely lady in the photo is about to take delivery of a new Packard...

I don't recall what site the photo came from (I don't think it was PackardInfo....)...

Nathaniel T. Dawes on American Pickers!

FYI, all...caught part of an episode of American Pickers last night.

Mike & Frank stopped at his place and bought a few things, including a Packard hood ornament.

There was also a nice shot of his '55 Caribbean. Is it the first production Caribbean? They kept talking about him owning the first serial number of SOME Packard...

He also has a '37, didn't catch which one.

And his book was mentioned, of course.

What a GREAT article and website! Thank you for posting this!

I wonder which executive took home the 1/4 scale model of the Predictor, and whether it still exists, or who owns it now?

Thanks for the background info, Todd! I was intrigued at the glimpses I saw of the beast while looking at the Packard.

The PDF is WONDERFUL! I say break out the Sawzall and order/make the wood panels.....
