Steele has one listed in 1948 section that will work but is not ribbed like 55-6. The hole edges have to be protected as the hose is fixed but flexes at cowl side and slides in and out the door about 6 inches. The original edges on mine when stripped appeared to be a smooth piece welded in but I think a modern plastic grommet strip could be used and painted. Maybe a plastic "chrome" door edge strip might work if it can be made flexible enough to go around. RV places have a decorative flexible edge strip also but might be too thick. Ideal would be electronic chassis protector strip as it comes in various sizes but most stores don't want to stock that stuff much anymore.
EDIT: Was thinking you being a smart fella, maybe something like this could be adapted and made to look sorta orginal for lots less money. Watsons has several sizeshttp://www.watsons-streetworks.com/holeshot_door_solenoids.html

Here is a pict of the shift relay locations. They are shown as if you were on the passenger side looking over at them. You should NOT have the one labeled "Control Relay" as that is what this bulletin advised removing and yours is a very late car so would have been built without. It is also possible the auto park relay was removed if the owner desired. It would be silver but all other relays are black. I have not heard of the lock relay on fender but I guess it's possible. Maybe one of the geniuses on the forum that know every bolt location can say if ever put there. Only other relays on fender I can think of is suspension solenoids on side near cowl and horn relay by radiator.

The instructions on adjustment use force as measured by a spring scale and also the removal or insertion of shims. There is no set number of turns--just remove shims if less than 1/2# and add if more than 1# and then adjust the screw to obtain 1 1/2 to 2 through center. The entire adj procedure is in Section 16 in 55-6 SM available on website if you don't have.

I believe the way these work is vacuum is connected thru solenoid valve to single port on side of extra block and is there at all times. When button pushed, solenoid allows vacuum also into large piston and it draws up a charge of water. When button released, solenoid stops vacuum to piston and spring pushes water which goes thru a chamber in bottom of block. It moves a flapper so vacuum is now applied to co-ordinator and starts WS wiper. As long as water flows, or there is pressure against flapper, vacuum keeps co-ordinator retracted and in operation. As soon as water stops, flapper cuts off vacuum again to co-ordinator and the air bleed via adjust screw slowly allows spring to return it and stop motor.

Some of us older geezers & cranks might remember a 4 letter word made famous by Maynard G. Krebs. "WORK". My hats off to you and hope to follow the progress.

Brian is right. McVeys offers a complete rebuild kit reasonably priced that at first glance looks to be correct for ours.http://www.cart32.com/estore/template/detailed.php?id=010650&referrer=/estore/template/thumbnails.php&cid=3&pid=101&page=2

Ahh, the joys of Portland and the rain. I have a good friend next door in Vancouver putting his 52 together although his is in garage. He wants me to come help but so far hasn't guaranteed a week without rain so I haven't volunteered.
Is there power there now just sitting with key on? If not, it could have dropped off and shorted at some time melting the connector or if power there now, I suspect it may be getting fed from the window relay or a short in that loom. If power, does the solenoid work? They're not designed for continuous operation.

Same relay as window and usually mounts something like this. This is the solenoid we are speaking of?
