HH,

From the factory A/C units I have seen, yes the thin rubber is used.

It has been suggested to me to buy an inner tube and cut to fit.

BJB,

The Studebaker National Museum might have the build sheet for your car. While not a needed thing to have, it will tell you where the car was sent to to be sold.

OD,

Now that is a funny story, about the tag.

I assume that this promotion started when the 56 Caribbeans were introduced, since the glove box for 5697-1019 had a tag. I thought maybe some of the earlier ones didn't get them.

Roscoe, which dealer sold this car 5697-1019?

OD & Stuart,

Thanks for the information! I started looking for the article, mentioned early, and had not found it yet!

The lucky 56 owners with these plates would know which dealer location (the build sheets) and original owner name. Then if they could locate any relatives, they might get REAL lucky and get some photos of when it was new.

I had looked for years to find the one 56 Convertible sold in Dallas. Finally found it on E-bay last year! It went from Dallas to San Antonio, to Tulsa to San Francisco, and was told it is now up in Oregon!

I tried hard to get that one to come home, but no such luck!

Now IF anyone has information on Packard Atlanta or the dealer in Elizabethtown Kentucky, Pickerill I could maybe find out more about my 55's.

Thanks for the write-up!

Thank you Ross, for the tech sessions. I have listened to yours at the PAC meets. I may not understand all the things you say, but I do listen!

The Clipper bolt pattern is Ford or Plymouth. The wire wheels for one of those cars will work. Will the Packard wire wheel caps fit??

Thanks for the reply, I will have to look at the PAC & PI magazines for the article. Do you remember how long ago it was?

OK, How about these 2?

http://www.autotraderclassics.com/classic-car/1956-Packard-Caribbean-536301.xhtml

neither one has the tag on the glove box. Did they come with a tag, or????

I am not 100% familiar with 56 Caribbeans, but for those prices, it looks like they were not restored correctly.

EDIT;
and this one TOO, has no tag

I have only seen this tag on some 1956 Packard Caribbeans.

Is there any factory information on this?

How would the buyer know it was available?

IF I remember correctly they don't always have Studebaker-Packard Corporation.

Any data how many 56 Caribbeans were "made specially for" a buyer?
