Hi I am new to this board. although I am not new to old cars, I am new to Packard ownership. I have just acquired a 1956 Executive Touring Sedan I was told by the seller that the car belonged to Gerald L. Packard (Verifiable by the title). I was told that he was a descendant of the original Packard family. The seller also told me that the car was very close to the end of the production run the serial number is 5672A2228. I am not sure that any of this is true, But I hope to learn a lot from this forum and make friends along the way.

The Studebaker National Museum might have the build sheet for your car. While not a needed thing to have, it will tell you where the car was sent to to be sold.

The serial numbers started at 1001 for the 56 models I believe. So yours was the 1227th one of 1784 Exec Sedans made.

Kev - to arrive at the sequence #, subtract 1000, not 1001. If 1001 was the FIRST one, and 1002 was the second one, then 2228 was 1228th one.

Or is my mind playing tricks on me again?

Thanks for the title info. Just checked mine for my 56 Exec H/T and it is #905 of 1031 built. Close to end of production line.

Thanks for the warm welcome! I will post some pics tomorrow and I will also ad the car to the registry. I like the idea of obtaining a build sheet as well
