The RUssians have a history with Packard dating back the Czars. Packard was a favorite.

Up until the 60s there was a Packard radial engine on display at he Franklin Institute of Science in Philadelphia. It may even still be there as I have not visited since that time.

Dwight, Once about 15 years ago when i visited the Studebaker museum in South Bend, there were some pics on display of the prototypes. I distinctly remember a front view of the the 57 with a more traditional Packard grill. It was obviously an alternative to the one displayed in case of public resistance. So you might want to contact them to see what they have packed away.

My first packard was a 51 convert bought in 1960 for a 100.00 bucks. It had 3 bottle cap openers onthe back fenders It wasa great car, ran for years. started in the worst weather, covered with ice and had the 288 with ultramatic.

They were manageable cars to drive. My grandmom had no problem driving a 47 super and a 48 convert when new. She was about 5feet tall. I can remember her on the ultramatics hiking forward on the seat so she could hit passing gear. I loved driving with her The only problem she had with the 48 was opening the drivers door if parked on a street with a bit of a crown They were heavy doors
