I love the rear lines on the Panther. But I always thought the front was a little to "catfish" for me personally.

Thanks for the photos - some lovely cars & I wish I had been there.

Anyone else pick up on a curious little detail on the 1941 160 green convertible?

Dave, am I wrong in saying that it should have a rear auxilary bumber with two instead of three bars?

The Vent windows had a crank handle which would indicate that it is a rare DE model but I did not see any of the fancy wood trim that most DEs had.I would also like to know if that Daytona is the supercharged stick shift model that set a speed record at Daytona Beach.

What caught my eye was the gear shift handle - I was under the impression that the Clipper-style shift handle was only used on the conventional-bodied cars in 1942. Perhaps my understanding is incorrect?

GTO, the senior cars had gear-crank vent windows whether they were DE versions or not. Rear bumper and accessory items looks correct to me. Hmmm.... no sun visors - I missed that.

I believe this is friend Dave Mitchell's car. Perhaps he can shed more light.

This picture of a 1941 Packard One Sixty convertible, published on Flickr.com seems to confirm your impression. The steering wheel tells me that it probably belongs to a Super Eight Deluxe.

GTO already mentioned the vent window crank handles. It isn't their existence as such but I miss the plastic that surrounds the handle.

Gusha, thanks for the picture and it (sort of) does confirm what I thought about the later style Clipper gearshift handle. But now that I look at a 1941 LeBaron Sport Brougham, it also has the Clipper style shift lever - perhaps correctly - perhaps not.

The convertible you pictured isn't a DeLuxe (or DE), they have wooden door sill trim as per the following. Since there was no 180 convertible coupe (other than the Darrin), the 160 convertible coupe was offered in an upscale version, the DE or DeLuxe. Likewise for several other 1941 models. The letters "DE" are part of the vehicle number on the patent plate.
