I started putting down the foil bubble insulation and stopped after I did the rear compartment. It sounds terrible when you step on it. Sounds like walking on plastic bags. I would go with new jute if I were you. I may still do that on mine.

TxGoat - These pictures were from 2018. I think he's catching us up on the story from the last few years. My guess is the engine has been rebuilt by now and is back in the car hopefully.

If you are going to use the Hirsch Paint, spray it vs brushing it. It was way to thin out of the car to brush.

The cheap HVLP detail gun from HF worked perfectly.

Haven't decided if I'm going to use Hirsch or something like the Massey Ferguson gray from Tractor Supply. Either way I will likely spray. I have the HF detail gun and it's great.

I know where a basket case 42' 120 Convertible Coupe is available and waiting to be finished. The restored frame and powertrain are already in place, and the body is in primer.

And it's a great project. I looked into it and for about the same price as the basket case in this thread you can get a car that has had most of the major background work done. I would love a project like the 120 but it's not in the cards at the moment. Too many other irons in the fire for me.

That engine looks really nice. I need to paint mine, and this gives me some inspiration to do it!

Rick, I'll crawl under and check to see if I have the same fitting. Was your trans making noise when the car was idling?

We have a '38 Super and I had no idea that the clutch release bearing could be lubricated. I'd be interested in the answer too.

I would wager that most people just don't have the answer, not that they don't care.

Wish I could help Happy, but I'm not even sure where to begin to look for that information. Hope you are able to find something!

I like the 653 or 327. 327 would probably be more recognizable. What about "PD" or "PK" denoting "Packard"? That's tough to figure out something with only two letters.
