Re: Who is going to be in Warren Ohio next weekend

I may be there if I can get the 352 in the blue & white 56GH back together in time. I started out planning only to replace the rear main seal and swap in the Olds oil pump. Then I noticed the loose timing chain, so added that to the list. Then I remembered this car has probably never had the cam reground in its 215,000 or so miles, so I thought may as well do that. I sent three cams to the guy in Effingham, IL and should get them back this coming week. If so, I can probably get her back together with a little midnight oil.

I could also drive the sunglow & white 56GH with the Ultra400 tranny, but am really hoping to take the blue & white.

Don't worry, if I make it, will be sure to park a little distance away from the "real" Packards :)

It looked like the Museum and the Music Hall were further away when I Google Mapped it. Glad to hear they are very close and walkable. I am staying at the Park Hotel which is only about a mile or so away.

Looks like the temp is going to be in the Mid 80s. I may have to bring my hat. The sun is not my friend, and I can get a sun burn from a bright lightbulb. Must be the English in me.

I look forward to seeing everyone. I may have to see if I can get a spare battery for my camera so it doesnt run out of juice before I run out of media space.

Welcome to the website Ron, nice to see another Southern Calif person represented here. I know there are lots of Packard's out there in SoCal, but none of their owner's appear to be online. Go figure.

Also it's nice to see more Pre-War cars and their owner's finding there way here.

I never heard of an 85 series radial. Who makes a 235/85R15?

Randy, my 56 Caribbean rear shocks are Gabriel 82066, and fronts are Gabriel 45653, gas filled as I remember. But if you just make note of the upper and lower mounting style, and the minimum compressed and maximum extended length, any auto parts guy "worth his salt" will give you all the alternatives.

Thanks for all the input guys. I'm going to install the brace as I have it in the parts trailer. I dug out the sending unit and lock ring today, but I need to get an O-ring for the gas tank. I'm going to install that next week. I got one rear shock off but can't read the number. I need to buy a pair with ten inches of travel. Does anyone know what gas shocks Kanter or Max is selling?

Welcome Ron, glad to have you aboard. Several of us will be in Warren, Ohio next weekend for the Packard Museum's annual show. That would be a long haul from the valley, but we will report back with pictures and info. Look at the firewall on the driver's side for a plate which will have your model number and other info. It is rivetted or screwed to the firewall.

And we'll be glad to welcome Kev to the eastern Packard Mecca.
Looking forward to seeing everyone. Sounds like I need to bring a cooler, except no beer The weather looks good and we should have a good time. I plan on going up Friday and Saturday - may even show up Sunday.

Mal It may take me awhile to post the Pics - I'm not too puter savvy. Around me all electronic devices have Banshies and we are in a constant battle. So far their winning.
Took me most of the morning to find and fill out my profile.

Glad to see ya made it Ron! I've learned that if it's something Packard, and you need to know it, then someone on this site knows it or knows who does. This is the BEST repository for Packards that has ever been created, IMHO.
