Re: 1928 6 Cyl Carb Issue

Home away from home

Gar
Ahh, found the answer in my trusty Dykes.

The H type carb that I have, has an adjustable (screw type) float. Everything is good as the vacuum tank that I rebuilt works great and the carb doesn't overflow anymore... now on to getting the radiator leaks fixed.

1928 6 Cyl Carb Issue
Home away from home
Home away from home

Gar
On my new 533 I just rebuilt my Stewart Vacuum tank and cleaned out all of the openings. (Air Port was clogged and Vacuum from manifold was plugged)

Now when I start the car my float needle valve (which was missing) has gas pouring out of the top of the valve.

TWO QUESTIONS:
1- Beyond the issue of trying to find a cap for the needle valve,
any idea why gas is overflowing out of the valve? I am thinking the float is defective...

2- Any idea why the previous owner plugged the vacuum line?

Thanks

Gar
Advanced Auto Parts has a 6 volt coil for ~ $20.00

E5 coil has a lifetime warranty. BWD is the manufacturer. Made in Mexico not China.

OK. I give up...is there a latch in the trunk that holds the rear seat bottom cushion in place? I have the front of the seat free but it seems that there is something still holding the back of the seat cushion.

Thanks

Can anyone tell me where the vacuum hose should be run to operate the drivers windshield wiper on a 533?

Oh yes...how do i turn it on and off? Was the initial hose made out of copper or rubber?

Gar
Thanks for all of the replies and sage advice.

I was able to determine that is a 1928 with a 533 chassis ID and is a 305 Limo.

Re: Running and then not

I had a similar issue in my 1940. The problem was gunk in my final gas filter on my carb. The filter was only about 50% blocked but the area around the filter also had gunk on it. (essentially reducing gas flow by over 50%).

Best of luck

-I also changed and re-gapped all of my plugs and ensured the coil wires we snug-
