When you attach ground to tank make sure you clean coating from tank as coating is nonconductive. I used star shakeproof washer on upper surface of predrilled hole in tank

I vote for new tank and sender which will cure problem and make for safer future not having to worry about leaks or dirt. Twenty gallons of gas is a major saftey issue your garage. If you replace fuel lines only fuel issues will be fuel pump and carb . You will be getting fuel issues all covered

I have used Uhaul trailer to move cars and pickups with my Tahoe, ford F250 diesel and Lincoln pickup with no problems. All the vehicles I used had factory tow packages. I like the folding fender which allows opening of car door. One I preordered from home and pickup up in New jersey for one way use. As I recall there were a sign on trailer that would be seen thru rear view mirror warning of maximum speed for towing. I assume most people renting trailer are not experienced. If you were using trailer a lot probably better to own your own or borrow from friend. Tires would be my first concern

Your 58 came with a 4 barrel Carter which can be rebuilt as basic carb was used on many 50s cars. The choke spring and related parts can be found athttps://www.carburetion.com/sitesearch.aspx?category=afbchoke&Title=Choke%20Chokes%20for%20Carter%20AFB%20Carburetors. A good rebuild and new choke bimetalic spring should restore choke to oem condition. I'm not a fan of electric chokes when you can get the original style Just my thoughts on this matter
