The fender was not removed, nor were the bolts loosened. Thanks BigKev for this suggestion, I'm gonna try this within two days.

The doors would pinch the body in front if I would try to close the door (wich I don't). I didn't replace the weather strip yet.

There is a third body to fender bolt indeed.

We are gonna work on it saturday and I appreciate your help!

Replacing the door after paint job

Who can help me? My Packard, a 1951 convertible, had a recent paint job. We tried to replace the doors, but they didn't fit (they can't be closed completely). What can we do to make them fit and close properly?

Thanks, Tom

Until now, I only ordered small parts. They were not to expensive.

And I am from Europe, the dollar is pretty cheap...

The quality of their products is very good.

I can recommend Rhode Island Wiring Service. Look at www.riwire.com. I ordered new headlight bucket wires for my convertible '51 and it looks and fits like the old ones.

The doors and the grill are removed, so I think that is one problem less. Thanks for the warnings!

Yes, that is exactly the weatherstrip I mean. I will remove the old weatherstrip and hope I will find out.

Thanks Randy!

Hello, does anybody know if I have to remove the front panels of my Packard (1951) before I can replace the door-weatherstrip? The guy who's gonna paint it thinks so.

Thanks, Tom

A.E. Medeiros (80 Freetown St. Lakeville) is one of those e-bay sellers. I ordered weatherstrips for my Packard Convertible 1951 (trunk and door), but both didn't fit. I agreed to send it back, but they say they never received them and I never got my money back.

So, I suggest you don't by from them.

Unfortunately I don't know anything about the history of my Packard. I was told it belonged to a wine-farmer in California. He was probably a member of the "Packards International" club, because that's on the license plate. The original US license was 347 NSK. It was serviced by "Deal & Davie, Susanville Ca. That company is still there, selling Toyota's.

If anyone knows anything about this Packard, please let me know!
