Mal,
Let me take a couple of photos then I'll post my speedster on the registry. My Dad's '48 was sold 3 years ago, and went back East. He currently owns a '53 Clipper 2dr post. I'll get a couple of photos of that and add it as well.

Mitch,

Thanks for the pic's of the turboed '48.

Looking forward to the Owner Registry entries of your Speedster and your Dad's '53 Clipper.

Morgan,

to a great Site. Hope the deal goes through for you with the Panama. And could you please add it to the Owner Registry when you get it together with a pic, and history if known?

ID for swap meet "find"

Went to a swap meet today in the '38 Eight 1601 Sedan. It was at Crookwell, a country town Southwest from Sydney, and which The Packard Club will be visiting next year during our 2009 National Rally in the nearby Southern Highlands. Link to Crookwell below.

http://www.argylecounty.com.au/towns/crookwell.html

Arriving at the swap meet, entry was AU$2.00 as well as a talk with the gatekeeper about Packards and Buicks. Then, on parking, the guy in the car next to me also talked about Buicks. I've come across this a lot here in Oz, seems Buick really made an impression, or an awful lot of peoples Dad's, Uncles, etc owned one at some time.

Then on to scouring the field, yes I said field because Crookwell will never challenge Hershey in terms of size or for much else for that matter. Packard parts were non-existent, although talking to one vendor he said he has some new mid 50's hubcaps in his shed and another said he had a 26/27 gearbox at home. Got their cards, and will pass the info on to club members here who might be interested. Did find a hubcap which "might" be Packard but I just don't know. It does have a hexagon indent in it's centre but knowing my luck it'll turn out to be from a Buick! Of course it cost all of AU$0.50, about US$0.33 at current rates, so it won't exactly break the bank. Also bought a steel knock-off cap probably from an MG for AU$2.00 and a side mirror for AU$9.00 which may be used on the right side of the '41. Because the '41 is remaining as LHD I'll need all the help with visibility I can get. See pic's below.

There were a couple of "old" cars in the parking lot, a Ford Mainline "Ute" and a Morris Minor convertible. And one car for sale, a '29 Rugby Sedan for AU$13,000.00, approx US$8,700.00, which looked pretty reasonable.

Any help to ID the hubcap would be appreciated.

Keegan,
Great work there on the metalwork and the body mounts. Sounds like you're having fun doing it too with some and thrown in to accomplish what you've done recently. And it's great to have mates who can contribute and help too. Pity that work has to get in the way of your Packard.

Kev,

It isn't a big deal as I found what I was looking for elsewhere, and thanks for answering this query. I had noticed at the time the Staff Forum had been truncated but my attention wasn't drawn to the For Sale Forum then so didn't catch it till now.

Mike,

Unfortunately can't make a comment in German so English will have to suffice. Thanks for sharing your '53 Clipper and your history and ongoing involvement with the car. The painted grill, at least from my viewpoint, is surprisingly effective and "suits" the car.

G'day Mitch,

Call him Eric, I do and so do the rest on board here!

I see you come from Nampa Idaho, near to Middleton where I bought my '41 Coupe last year. Also do you know Earl 'Doc' Gulley who was the previous owner of the Coupe and lives at Caldwell and had about 10 Packards when I visited him last year when I bought the Coupe?

And could you please add your '29 Speedster to the Owner Registry and your Dad's '48 together with pic's, and histories if known?

Sorry Eric for going

Now to return to normal programming

Kev,

I might be a little slow here, but I just had cause to go back and search for an old thread in the "For Sale, Wanted, Trade" Forum and found the oldest there dates from April 2008!

When you did the data move from the old to the new server did you only bring the more recent threads over? Or did I miss something?

G'day terrellda,

Sorry can't help with your specific questions, but welcome to the Site. Pic's of the plate in question and the numbers on it would prove helpful to others who may be able to help. And if you haven't already done so, could you please add your '41 160 to the Owner Registry together with a pic, and it's known history?
