I have been watching with fascination, must be some kind of Sink Hole Porn.

I see they now have five cars out of the hole and no information to the public as to how far down or condition of the other three cars. It would be interesting in knowing how far down the hole goes and if they are actually at the bottom. In looking at their web cam, it appears to me that the center spire thing is somewhat undermined and it looks like several square holes were cut through the concrete.

The concrete looks thin and the dirt looks down a few inches, maybe this was constructed over some kind of old underground bunker.

This building could have been built to the quality of a tent as I think they were budget strapped.

I looked today but no rescue appeared to be happening.

As I look out the window at my 54 Cavalier in the driveway I wonder what lies beneath.

In my youth I bought a brand new 1965 Corvette Stingray, $4100.00 as I recall

I was told that the last two cars may be so bad that restoration may not take place.

Also, the Museum itself could not have bought the kind of publicity it has received for the amount the cars are worth. Attendance has gone through the roof.

While I believe all of the cars will be on temporary display "as removed," the last two cars will probably be put on display permanently "as removed," which will continue to attract visitors for some time to come.

There are 3 cars left in the hole.
I have been watching the cameras off and on all week.

They added a third web cam today for a different angle.

There has not been any work around the hole all week.
Local news last noght said they are working to stablize the red, center column at this time. They are boring 100' shafts below the column, I've no idea how the actual support system works.

Apparently the geography of Kentucky is heavy with "Karst" which is a word meaning lots of underground caves.

There are three cars remaining in the hole as the original fall was eight cars and five have been pulled out last week.

I would be surprised if they can adequately restore all of the cars pulled out so far from looking at the damage so far.

There would likely be body parts available from junk yards for most of these cars as the very first Corvette is 1953 so parts can be had.

Car makers are overloaded with stored Concept cars and some early versions of manufactured models they can't legally allow to run on public streets. There is a recent article of Chrysler trying to reclaim a Viper with VIN# 4 they loaned to a college who wants to keep it. So this museum would provide a place to keep cars and allow people to donate last year's super model that cost $300,000.00 and they can take a tax donation and go buy a new one.

One of these Corvette's had a 600 something horsepower motor claimed to be the highest GM ever fitted to an automobile.

Central Kentucky news reprots this weekend that it would be several weeks before any attempt would be made to recover the last three cars.

All work being done at this time is for stablizing... everything in sight.

Kind of makes you wonder what is under the rest of the place. If Corvette production uses any of them, might be a whole lot more excitement if a multi-ton press took a similar trip.

Any idea how much ground testing was done prior to building or is the cave system and ground water changing things too much for anything reliable. Out here they sometimes use technology similar to that used in oil exploration to try and find hidden earthquake faults -- not that finding any would stop the building. IIRC, a nuclear power plant was built almost on top of one anyway.

I have been watching this with some interest even though it is a bit off topic-Packard.

As I live in Phoenix we don't have discovered Karst although Kartchner Cavern near Tucson was discovered in somewhat recent years. We are all old swamp pre Permain, about when I was born.

The now three camera angles tend to show some undermining of the existing floor back beyond and under the red pointy thing. I don't know if the remaining three cars are visible above the dirt. It is illegal to dump car parts in a Karst sink hole.

The museum web site doesn't offer a lot of information which could be the insurance company keeping a lid on things.

I suppose the Corvette factory nearby probably doesn't make much impact on the ground as those are mostly plastic cars anyway.

Crews finally found another corvette in the hole today.
They only have the rear end uncovered but you can clearly see it if you use camera 3.
No idea when it will be pulled out.

There are still 3 cars in the abyss.

They pulled the ZR1 vette out of the dirt today. GM will have fun restoring that one and the last three if they are in the same shape.
They left it in the hole for the night. There are pictures and a video of the car on the Corvette Museums facebook page.
They found the white (1,500,000) corvette right below it.
