a heat gun on low setting makes this stuff very conforming to what you want it to do. I heated and stretched and it was great.

I put the glove box door back on minus the clock so I can rewire that. wonder how it will work with negative ground and I wonder how many amps it pulls....reason....the voltage regulators I bought are only about 1-1.5 amps max. I doubt the clock is more then that. then again I don't think it matters to wire it cause I have a battery disconnect I use.

I think I'm lucky and I have a second Packard that the steel mill is stamped on the metal somewhere on the car. I can't really make out the mill though, maybe Wheeling Steel Mill??? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wheeling-Pittsburgh_Steel

The other two dash pieces are out, but man what a PITA! I guess there is a special tool for the headlight switch?

The chrome trim on the middle dash piece was glued in...all because they ground it off to put this oak print on....geesh.

wiring harnesses came today. Made in America, by an American company. It must be fate because they used Packard electric components and the font on the box is very Packard like.

p.s. Texas I hate you and you 1000 degree Augusts. i think i lost 20 lbs in sweat weight!!

Maybe you should ask Santa for one of those roll around portable air conditioners. Wouldn't cool the entire garage unless the garage was closed and it ran awhile but point it toward where you are working and it makes all the difference. You do need to figure out how to handle the large round duct which blows the hot air to the outside but that would be minor details for a guy with your talent.

actually thought about a split system as the wall with the house a/c is next to the garage and all of the power is right there too.

the garage is insulated, expect the doors and the ceiling, but you are right it would have to run for a good long while to cool the garage off. usually I just open the door to the house and a blast of cold air comes in and actually does help a bit.

I have one of those portable air conditioners. I leave the garage door raised just enough to fit the exhaust tubing under it. It is amazing the amount of water that machine extracts. It makes the shop (garage) bearable in our hot and humid Central Texas summers or as I like to call them our "Minnesota Winters". One does not want to venture out in either and one needs keep inside as much as possible.

I put a collar in the ceiling so I can connect the hose as needed and vent the hot air up and out a nearby roof vent. My condensate goes into a little plastic bin which does have to be emptied but not often because it is not nearly as humid here as parts of Texas.

As hot as the air in that round tube gets I've seriously considered making a hood to fit over the cold air out vent and reverse the tube in winter so cold air out and hot air in the garage. Make it sort of like a heat pump. I usually hibernate in winter so no more than a thought and on the rare occasions I do get in the mood the propane turbo thingy is noisy but adequate.

thanks for the ideas guys, and as to the heat I have one 5500watt 220v and one 7500watt 220v. sux the power, but I can get it well over 90 in the garage on a below freezing day outside. usually just run them long enough to get it warm and then cut one off and leave the other on the thermostat on low 3500watt setting.

so I decided I didn't like the old paint on the dash trim and that it needed a good stripping, cleaning, polishing, and repaint.

I think the new brown matches the dash better too. its just brown primer. the black is rust preventer. I clear coated over the trim as well to keep the paint and the chrome shiny. no I just have to wipe it down when it needs it.
