Hi all.

Can anyone give me an idea of how much a new headliner installed should cost? '51 4-door. Just looking for a ballpark from the folks that own one... Thanks

6 years ago my cost was about $800.00 to have the headliner made and installed in my 1953 Packard Clipper 4D. While you're in there make sure you remove the tar paper stuck to the underside of the roof (sound deadening?) and replace with a modern like material. Hope this helps. Regards

I don't know if it would save anything but you can get a premade headliner from Kanter for about a third to a half as much as the figure given. Have that installed or even do it yourself. Kanter's 51 offering is probably modern fabric so not the exact material as the original but they do have some that are close in appearance. The one I bought for my 47 is not original but is quite presentable. Unless you or the upholsterer can find original material from someplace like SMS I doubt anything made local would be the same as original either.

Check my blog. I bought a beautiful present headliner and had a local shop install it. They used the extra material to cover the b-pillars and sun visors. It looks great. Approx cost was less that $500.

I patterned, cut and sewed my own. Did a separate project blog on PAC forum around January 2014. Getting ready to install now if the moths haven't eaten holes in it! Some minor body work got in the way of finishing the interior!
