The base model 22nd Series Standard 8 also used painted dash trim.
I parted one of these out many years ago and may still have some of the dash trim.
Yours for the asking to help with such a unique project.

Little progress to show but a lot of sorting, cleaning, and polishing. I do have all 4 matching wheels and tires done, My most recent accomplishment was the dash assembly. The biggest hurdle was to locate all of the different screws to hold everything together. I also located, cleaned and painted all of the brackets to mount the bumpers. next plan is to sort all of the front splash pans and detail them. I did learn that there is a specific order in which the dash parts must be assembled. There was much trial and error in the process. I need to take a couple of days to re-group and organize the shop and take a break from the project. Stay tuned and thanks for your interest. pictures to follow (maybe)

Dependent upon when it was built, the chrome dash trim may have been a running change to help sell cars and reduce inventory before the 23rd Series changeover.

If the NYC general taxi specifications that applied to Checker, Desoto Skyview and Packard can be located, very likely even things such as painted instrument panel trim were specified to reduce the glare driver's would experience.

Parted out a 48 Eight many years ago. Was shocked that it had painted dash trim. A few of the pieces were actually painted brown over the chrome. The woodgraining was nice, but the overall effect made a Chevrolet business coupe look luxurious. Who on earth was in charge of such things at that time?

Re; Let the ride decide, The far left is a door ajar warning light and the small middle one is the switch for the back window. The window above the trunk was vacuum power operated to open or close and the far right is the ignition switch. Thanks for asking.
