Watching one on ebay. Someone out bid my max bid of $610. Times are tight :-/

Whats the going price if you even find one these days?

$1500?
$2000?

On eBay, it is what it is when the auction closes. I've never seen a bare intake sell for more than $1000. Then, if one is doing a Caribbean restoration, the correct carbs, that's $2000; lines and linkage another $500; air cleaner $1200-$1500.

Of course, if you are building a hot rod, then the above doesn't apply.

thnx, jack vines

I would think at those prices someone would have looked into having them reproduced in India or maybe China.

They were in repro, or at least advertised, a few years ago by Empire Motors of El Paso. Whether they ever got enough orders to make them I don't know. I've seen a couple of OEM 2x4 Packard manifolds for sale over the last year going for about $800.

At Hershey over the last two years there were 4 complete Carib setups, one a 55 and 3 for 1956; blasted and painted manifold, correct carbs by Daytona Parts, all linkage and fuel lines, choke stove pipe and wrapping, choke air baffle, decals and wing nuts, and a nicely restored bat wing air filter. As I recall asking prices were about $4000, pretty much in line with Jack Vines' estimates.

FWIW, Empire Motors has never made the V8 intakes. I've been in discussion with them, but at $1250 there's not a large enough market for me or them to make the investment.

thnx jack vines

I am willing to pay about half that currently. I would love all Packard parts on my Packard but being the white collar PC mechanic that I am my budget just doesn't allow for the $1000+ for the intake. For any SB Ford or Chevy they are $250 new. Why do I have to have expensive taste?

Hello, I found this site looking for information on a 2x4 CI intake I have acquired.

Its casting # matches the # for a 1955 Packard 352?

#440856

Firing order: 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2

Cyl numbers - odd on one side, even on the other, (Neither means much, it's a common setup)

I was at first thinking this was for a Chrysler, but nothing looks close.

Based on the web info, I'm becoming reasonably certain this is for the Packard listed above.

I picked this up to resell, so if anyone is interested, please let me know. ( I hope this is not against forum rules)

I'm undecided if I should have this bead blasted, and if so what would be the proper paint? Currently it's got gold paint on it. (Original?)

Ps: I read these are rare, and no, I'm not scamming anyone; I can provide pics tomorrow, (I'll be posting it locally to see what interest there is)

It is always best to let the buyer decide whether to repaint, blast, glass bead or just be happy as it stands.
When in doubt, leave it alone.
